Album Review Assignment

As part of their project, the students at Scott Collegiate were asked to pick an album to review as a music journalist. After listening to the album from start to finish, developing their opinion, and creating their own reviews, they post them here as comments to add to the universe of internet album reviews!

All Eyes On Me
Tupac
(Death Row Records)
1992

I give All Eyes On Me five stars. I love everything Tupac writes. There’s always some kind of message to be heard in his songs. “ They say they’re friends but in real life they’re you enemies.” Tupac always faces stereotypes and what the media thinks about people of color. “ No more hesitation each and every black male’s trapped and they wander why we suicidal.” Tupac came from nothing and now he’s going down in history. With All Eyes On Me you don’t have to change one song you can just sit and chill and listen to the whole album. “Life in the hood is good for nobody.” R.I.P Tupac.

Lil Wayne
Carter III
Cash Money Records
2008

The carter III by Lil Wayne is an outstanding album. It was named the most applicable album of the year by XXL magazine. This album was released on the tenth day of June of 2008. In the album the Carter III Lil Wayne has a really good flow and says a lot about himself. For example in the single A Milli he’s talking about how he finally made a million dollars from all his hard work. In my option Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive. This album is not very similar to any of the other albums Weezy has produced. The video for the second single, "A Milli", was set to be released in May. Multiple versions of the track were be included on the album as "skit-like" tracks, featuring artists such as Tyga, Cory Gunz, Hurricane Chris and Lil Mama. Another artist, 13-year-old Lil Chucky, is also set to appear on one of the "A Milli" skits The album has a lot of potentional I just think that Lil Wayne would sound to much better if he didn’t computerize his voice so much. He already sounds good just the ways he is. Oh yeah, and I think he looks greassy in the video A Milli he should wash his hair. All in all more rappers should be as real as Weezy.

A Girl Like Me
Rihanna
Def Jams Recordings
2006-2007
Already a top selling beauty, Rihanna just keeps stunning the world. Her album A Girl like Me is incredible. I love this album. Every song on this album is great. All I do is play the album and every song is a five star rate to me. This album has all kinds of songs, party songs- “S.O.S.”, sad love songs- “Unfaithful”, and happy love songs- “Thug in my life”. This album has a song for every mood. This album is different from every album I’ve ever heard before. I have never loved every song on a album before. There were always I few I disliked, but A Girl Like Me has all great songs. So if your looking for a great CD buy A Girl Like Me.
